We’re gearing up for the Eatonville Art Festival this weekend, August 5-7, 2016. We’ll have a booth to gather story leads, sell t-shirts, hats and posters, and pretty much just spread the word.
The Eatonville Art Festival launched not long after the Buffalo Party, in 1972. Although Art festivals are common today, that wasn’t the case 40 years ago. In 1972, Vince Troccoli, probably best known as the past publisher of the Dispatch, and Terry Van Eaton got together to try to create a unique art event in Eatonville.
“We decided to meet with several Lions Club members at Terry’s house,” says Vince in an interview with EatonvilleNews. That initial group included Les and Dixie Butts [now Walter], Ron Gehring, in addition to Terry and Vince. The rest is history.
At the Booth
As I mentioned, this year Buffalo Rock with have a booth. We’ll be easy to find. We’ll be the booth at the end with the colorful banner and merchandise. Come stop by. Share your stories and be a part of the documentary, or say “hi”.
See you there!
